Gum Disease Treatments
Periodontal disease is more commonly known as “gum disease.” The condition is linked with health conditions like diabetes, premature labor, cardiovascular disease, and several others. It’s also the main reason for adult tooth loss.
At Value Smiles, we believe in addressing gum disease early. This helps our patients avoid surgery or replacing teeth later on.
Your Periodontal Therapy Appointment
All of our periodontal therapies include a deep cleaning. These cleanings remove calcified tartar that is built up on the surfaces of your tooth roots. Without removal, the bacteria cause the gums to detach and bone support to be lost. You might even start to see symptoms like:
- Gum Recession
- Tooth Mobility or Loss
- Bad Breath
- Visible Tartar or Stain
- Swelling or Bleeding Gums
In some cases, we may also need to place a local antibiotic or graft to make it possible for your body to fight off infection and secure the tooth. After having a deep cleaning, we usually prefer our patients to stay on a 3 to 4 month recall schedule until symptoms are completely reversed.
Do you have sensitive gums that bleed or hurt when you brush and floss? Call Us to schedule an exam before it’s too late.
